For those of you who aren’t aware, I moved to Walnut Grove on the Sacramento River. I lucked out and found a private dock and a great Landlord.

I also got tired of sitting on my butt doing nothing. I heard that the County of Sacramento needed Bridge Operators for their Draw Bridges. Low and behold, I applied and was given the job and started training on May 16th. There are 4 different bridges (Walnut Grove, Georgiana Slough, Tyler Island and Freeport). Two bridges are very similar in structure and operation(Walnut Grove and Freeport), Georgiana and Tyler Island each are different. I will be writing about each bridge separately including pictures in my up coming Blogs.
